* 1947 Bronxville, New York,
lives and works in New York
The 1947 born conceptual artist analyses the art system with all its complex rules in quite a perceptive and sometimes ironical and most of the time exposing way.
She takes photographs of artifacts in situ no matter where they are at museums or even in the livingroom of art collectors. This way she shows how art is being received and how art is being staged. Her first extensive works from 013/2014 were shown at the „Museum Ludwig“ and displayed all over the house.
The collection „Louise Lawler Adjusted“ consists of 80 works including her most prestigeous pieces as well as some that were never shown in public. Lawler’s works, mainly photographs, are displayed all over the house. Her works and the test presentation mutually complement each other. Especially since the importance of location of presentation of an artifact (i.e. Museums, privat rooms, auctions or depots) and the immediate neighbourhood should be selected carefully in order to interact in a suprising combination.
