2D textile facades

No other material can achieve such large-scale and seamless cubatures. A 2-dimensional textile facade makes a building unique.

Planning &
Design

The planning and design of 2D-TEXTILE FACADE requires a high level of know-how and experience. Special textiles are used which, when appropriately produced and prestressed, allow one-piece surface coverings of up to 400 m². Both aesthetic and technical requirements must be taken into account. The construction must ensure high stability and durability, while at the same time achieving an attractive appearance. In addition to structural de-sign, aspects such as weather resistance, fire protection and energy must also be taken into account in the planning phase. With our expertise and many years of experience in the field of 2D-TEXTILE FACADE, we are your expert system partner from planning to production and on-site installation.

New buildings

In new buildings, more and more architects are opting for the combination of 2D-TEXTILE FACADE as lightweight aluminium fabric systems. These allow almost limitless design freedom and enable large-format cubature with full rear ventilation. The special textiles give the façade a cubic structure and also provide protection against the weather. The aluminum systems ensure high stability and durability with low weight. The combination of aesthetics and functionality is of great importance in the implementation of 2D-TEXTILE FACADE in new buildings.

Fire behaviour

When using 2D-TEXTILE FACADE, it is important to ensure that the design is flawless in terms of fire protection. Therefore, the materials and coatings used should be designed to be non-combustible or flame-retardant and comply with the applicable fire protection regulations. Professional planning and installation of the facade as well as regular maintenance and inspection are also important aspects.

FAQ
Do you have questions?
typico_gleich
A textile facade, sometimes also called a membrane facade, is a classic curtain facade that is stretched in front of the actual building structure. Unlike other building materials, window surfaces can also be spanned, as it is possible to see through the fabric from the inside to the outside.
typico_gleich
A textile facade also significantly shades the building and thus offers significant energy advantages. The fabrics used for the construction of a textile facade are made either from high-strength polyester fabrics with PVC coating or from glass fabrics with Teflon coating.
typico_gleich
Compared to other materials, textile facades can convince with a very large freedom of design. Construction forms in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms give planners and architects a wide range of facade designs. In addition, most fabrics can be digitally printed, which is particularly interesting for commercial buildings, but also for museums and functional buildings.
typico_gleich
Due to the very low weight per unit area of a textile facade (approx. 500 g/m²), the statics of the building are not heavily stressed, especially in existing buildings. The significant shading effect of a textile facade also contributes significantly to the energy efficiency of a building.
typico_gleich
As for other types of facades, this estimate depends on many environmental factors. On average, based on the projects already implemented, an average durability of between 35 and 40 years for unprinted textile facades can be assumed.
typico_gleich
Typico textile facades are essentially made only with polyester/PVC fabrics, which are made from recycled raw materials. The polyester yarns are obtained from used PET bottles and at the end of the facade's life all raw materials can be separated into their components for further use.
typico_gleich
It is also worth noting that all fabrics are European-made and therefore have an extremely low environmental footprint, especially in transport and production. Typico is also proud that the energy required for the production of the textile facade comes entirely from local renewable sources such as solar and hydroelectric power.
